01

Location targeting lives in the username

There is no separate settings screen for locations. You connect to the gateway gate.proxymay.com:7000 and add the location you want to the username, and the gateway assigns an IP from that place. The username starts with user, and each optional part is joined with -.

  • country- plus a 2-letter code: user-country-de gives a German IP.
  • city- plus the city name in lowercase, spaces as _: user-country-us-city-new_york
  • session- plus a name of letters and digits (up to 16): the same name keeps the same IP for up to 120 minutes.
  • type-mobile: use IPs on a carrier mobile network.
username: user-country-jp-city-tokyo-session-shop1
password: YOUR_TOKEN

The password is your account's access token. HTTP and SOCKS5 share the same gateway (host gate.proxymay.com, port 7000), so every tool keeps one address and you change locations by editing the username only.

02

When country level is enough and when to target a city

Most jobs only need a country. Sites usually decide language, currency, prices and shipping terms from the visitor's country. Adding a city narrows the set of matching IPs, so use it only when results really change from one city to the next.

JobTargetWhy
Price and currency checksCountryPrices and currency are mostly set per country
Local search rank checksCityMap results and nearby businesses differ by city
Regional ad checksCityAds are often run per city or state
Localization reviewCountryLanguage and formatting usually change per country
Multilingual countriesCityIn Switzerland, Belgium and Canada the default language can depend on the city

City targeting works with Rotating residential proxies, and Static ISP proxies are picked at city level. Mobile proxies are targeted by country.

03

Supported countries by region

The flag list below is split into five regions. Open any country to see its cities, a username example and the products available there.

  • Asia: Japan, South Korea, Singapore, India, Indonesia and more. Languages and checkout screens vary a lot between countries, so these IPs see heavy use for localization reviews and local search checks.
  • Europe: Germany, the United Kingdom, France, Spain, Poland and more. Even countries that share the euro show their own prices, shipping fees and search results.
  • Americas: United States, Canada, Brazil, Mexico and more. The US often calls for city-level checks, while Latin America is mostly about Spanish and Portuguese pages.
  • Middle East and Africa: United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Israel, South Africa, Nigeria and more. Also useful for reviewing right-to-left layouts in Arabic and Hebrew.
  • Oceania: Australia and New Zealand. Both are English speaking, yet prices and ads differ from the US and UK, so they are worth checking on their own.

Where Mobile proxies and Datacenter proxies are available

Rotating residential proxies work in every listed country with country and city targeting. Mobile proxies are available in 56 countries and Datacenter proxies in 18 countries. Each country page has an availability box that shows which products you can use there.

  • Rotating residential proxies: country and city targeting, pay for the traffic you use, from $0.80/GB
  • Mobile proxies: carrier mobile network IPs, country targeting, from $4.00/GB
  • Datacenter proxies: fast and lowest price, from $1.20 per IP
  • Static ISP proxies: city-level location, the same IP for a whole month, from $3.00 per IP

A Static ISP proxy keeps its location for the whole month. For managing your own accounts or allowlisting, where every login should come from the same place, pick a city close to where the account is normally used.

05

Combining city targeting with sticky sessions

Even with a city set, the default is a new IP on every request. For logins, carts and checks that span several pages, add a session- name. As long as you send the same session name, you keep the same IP for up to 120 minutes.

user-country-gb-city-london-session-uk02

Both lines get a London IP, but because the session names differ, each one gets its own IP. Give every browser window or account its own session name and you can run several flows in the same city at once.

If you need one IP for longer than a sticky session lasts, Static ISP proxies are the better fit.

06

How do you choose a location for each job?

  1. 1Price monitoring: target only the country you sell to and take a new IP per request. To compare markets, keep the same URL and change only the country code.
  2. 2Search rank checks: target the city you care about. The same query can rank differently in Seoul and Busan, or in New York and Seattle.
  3. 3Ad verification: target the city where the campaign runs, and add a sticky session if you need to follow the ad through to the landing page.
  4. 4Localization and website testing: country level is usually enough, but in multilingual countries check once more from a second city.
  5. 5Managing your own accounts: use Static ISP proxies so the location never changes, and pick a city near where the account was set up.

Whatever location you choose, use it for permitted work such as public data collection, ad verification, SEO rank checks and managing your own accounts. Accessing other people's accounts or violating a target site's rights is not allowed.

Picked a location? Connect and check it

Once you know the country and city, top up on the plans page, then follow the quick start to build your username and run the curl check that shows the country and city of your IP. One balance covers all four products.
